Final Fantasy

Wednesday May 9th

This is the Final Round.

No we are not doing final fantasy the game... hehe Its just a play on words. This is the last round. You can do any fantasy pics you like. ANything. Anything at all. No challenges, no sabotages, no bonus points. A winner take all battle of imagination. Of course there are some restrictions...

hehe

You must turn in 3 pictures.

1. A fantasy themed headshot
2. A shot from the rear. The models back must be facing the camera. Can be full or partial bodyshot. I wouldn't recomend a photo of the back of her head though.
3. A final picture that can be anything, head, body, arm... ok maybe not arm , but whatever you want to do as long as its fantasy based.

You will have just over 2 weeks to do the 3 shots.

Requirements

- You may have as many sims as you want. But your model must stand out and command attention. (This is for the full body shots)
- 3 pics
- You may submit a story if you want however for this round stories will not be included in the judging the picture must speak for itself.
- For this round you may edit however you wish. Go crazy. You can change hair, skin eyes... anything except the gender and basic body of your model.

I'm Jadedcat the host for Fantasie. While I am new to judging sim contests I have judged art and beauty contests in the past. When scoring pictures I will be looking at several things. Did the model complete the assignment? Did they take risks? Does the whole picture flow well .. as in does the pose clothing set etc all make sense. Primarily though I will be looking for creativity. This is not a high fashion contest its an imagination fantasy contest. From week to week I want to see different clothing syles, different pose styles... different photography styles and if you edit.. different effects. In other words I will deduct a few points for repeated use of the same edit effect... or the same basic styling. Have fun and be creative.

My name is Vanadis, or Vana. I am fairly new to judging, but I do know what I want to see in a photo. All I really want to see is effort, the strive to improve. Rather than seeing pictures of what people think might please judges, the photos I really want to see are the ones the creator is happy with. Those are the ones that stand out, and that tend to jump a bit out of the box, and when I can tell that it was something someone worked hard on and that it was a sort of labor of love, it just seems that much more special, because it tends to actually show, big time. We're all modelers; we love modeling, and that's what I like to see shining through a photo. Also, good quality and composition never hurts. A good sense of emotion in the character in the photo is also always great.

Hello my fellow Fantasie contestants! It's Gim here, one of your dedicated judges for this competition. I only entered the modeling world last year, but feel as if I'm growing and learning throughout each competition I enter and each entry I turn in. In this competition I hope to learn from you all as well as myself, and the judges I'm working with. In each entry you all bring to the table I expect to be blown away by the creativity and effort shown. I expect no one to be discouraged, or get disappointed from a low score on a couple of assignments. Encourage yourself, and set expectations to do better next time. Be prepared to take criticism, learn from mistakes, and most of all have fun during this amazing first cycle of Fantasie!

Application pics have been moved to [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] All assignments will be moved there as well.
When Gim posts her comments on the applicant pictures they will be over there.

This is gorgeous, Linday. I love her flowing hair and the addition of the other models, and how they're mostly looking up at her as if in adoration. I like the steamy effect you have here, and the swans; those are perfect for Aphrodite. I really can't find anything I don't like about this. This is just a phenomenal photo from you! Great job!

This is beautiful Krussi. I do wish the background felt more like it matched. And the flames seem to bit a bit too smeared and cover a bit too much of her. Well done.

I like your jewels and how you made your model have many arms. Is she supposed to be standing on Shiva, though? Cause if so I dunno why Shiva looks dead... She's his consort, so existing without him would be pretty difficult if that makes sense. I don't really see how this is supposed to represent Kali as essentially the goddess of time and change, but it is a pretty good take on the traditional artwork of her with Shiva. Your snakes are so cute. I love snakes. :D I like how your effect is drawn, though I'm not entirely sure what it represents, if it's power or something, it kind of makes sense... I'd also have liked to see a more interesting background. Overall it looks pretty good!

I love the purple fog, and the lighting... I think the ghosts don't feel like they fit in the picture. And the magic in har hands is a bit too solid. Overall a good depiction of Hekate.

Vana

So I really like this a lot. You did well portraying some of her various aspects, with the night sky, the ghosts, the magic. I love how her dress looks starry, but watch out because with that pose there's a quality kink in the bottom of the dress. There's a lot of choppiness on her, especially on the arms. Everything else actually looks pretty good quality-wise. The composition is pretty nice. Overall, lovely photo.

Well drat Monks. I love your picture of Eris...its very good, however you forgot the sabatoge and did not get an animal in the picture. And its not quite a body shot. Its also not as creative as most of your pics. Overall its very ell done however I wish you had stuck an animal in there.

Assignment: 10/10
Creativity: 8/10
Fashion and pose: 5/5

Ah, I love Eris. Love how you portrayed her offering up the apple. I'd have liked to see a little more light on your model; she's a bit dark. Love her dress, and that apple is edited in masterfully. To be honest, I don't really like the background. I mean, I like that it feels as if she's kind of coming up from the shadows, but the streaks of white are really distracting. The hair is drawn beautifully though, as is her makeup. I'd like to see some improvement on the background next time, Oh Chosen One. Good work though, I know you've been busy and this is pretty good for something that was likely done quickly.

This is certainly a unique depiction of Nyx. However the assignment requested a body shot. This is not quite a body shot. While I would have let that slide since its more then a headshot , the requirments also asked for it to still look like a sim. And its hard to tell she is a sim. So I had to give you a deduction on the assignement requirments. I deducted points from creativity because its not a wildly creative take to put the goddes of night against a night sky and because I have seen this effect edit from you on many of your entry pics. In the next round I would like to see you do something different. A different editing effect.
I cannot see her dress very well and her hair looks a bit odd and not really like hair.

Vana

Assignment: 9/10
Creativity: 9/10
Fashion and pose: 5/5
Background and Set: 4/5
Execution: 3/5
Total: 30/35

Love her pose! And the night sky, though the galaxy there does look kind of odd since you can see the moon... it's not really astronomically correct lol. I think you did a decent job at portraying her as the night goddess, but I'd liked to have seen her more shadowy than bright, since she is often said to be a shadowy figure. Her hair could be better. Watch the thickness of your strands; these are very thick and look more like streamers than hair. But you got the flow and shape pretty well. The effect you used on her makes her look rather grainy, so be careful about that. I don't particularly like the writing on her skin -- maybe if it looked more like a tattoo. I love her dress; that I think was an excellent choice for her. So mainly just watch your effects and your hair strand size. I think it would have looked better without the vignette border, since that kind of gives it a blurry quality. Overall, very colorful (I love color) and pretty.

After a review of points and entries to date. Adler I am sorry but you have been eliminated from the compition. Unless Vana wishes to use her save to keep you in the finale.

You have been saved and will continue to the final round.

Oooo kittehs. The set looks lovely as does your model. Its all a bit monotone though. A pop or two of color in her outfit would have made it really pop. But ooo kittehs.

I love how she is in a pyramid; she was considered a protectress of the Pharoahs, after all, so it makes sense. Your background is simple, but beautiful. I love her skin tone and her catlike eyes. And the cats, of course. (Cats seem to be a recurring theme with you these days, don't they? XD) I love the lighting you used. Honestly, I can't find much of anything wrong with this. Maybe something a little more out of the box, but seriously you do awesome work. Keep it up!

Nicely done music. The pose is lovely but doesn't quite work with the dress. And I wish she was interacting more with the dead dude. Other then that good work.

You portrayed Isis as the protector of the dead here, am I right? Awesome job. Love your mummy here. With that pose there is an issue with the dress, but that's a great pose, and a great dress, so I'm a little more keen to ignore that a bit. You might have tried smoothing it a little in your editing program, though. It seems like she's keeping him away from the fire, which I like. You've stayed true to the goddess you were portraying, which I also like. I think her styling was just spot on. I'd have liked to see her face a little better; rotating her would have allowed that, and we could see the makeup, since Egyptian goddesses are pretty well known for being portrayed with wild makeup. Anyway, This is really great! Outstanding job!
